What the Seattle Seahawks must do to get back on track for 2018

Seattle Seahawks

It wasn’t too long ago Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch, and the Legion of Boom dominated the National Football League. The Seattle Seahawks had the most entertaining team in the NFL during that stretch. The rivalry games with the San Francisco 49ers brought a lot of credibility and publicity to the NFC West. On February 2, 2014, the Seattle Seahawks finally won their clubs first ever Super Bowl Championship, after destroying the legendary Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos 43–8.

The Seattle Seahawks’ defense in 2013 was billed as one of the best in the Super Bowl era. The next season, the Seattle Seahawks once again then advanced to Super Bowl XLIX,  but the New England Patriots took their championship by a score of 28–24. Russell Wilson threw a devastating interception on the goal line to Malcolm Butler.

They got off to a rough start the next season 0-2 and 2-4 through 6 games but the Hawks finished 10-6 on the year clinching a wild card berth. They beat the Minnesota Vikings 10-9 to advance to the divisional playoff round. Against the Carolina Panthers, they were down 31-0 at halftime before scoring 24 unanswered points. Their comeback attempt fell short and they failed to make the Super Bowl. In the 2017 Season the Seattle Seahawks fell just short of a wildcard playoff berth.

The Seattle Seahawks need to start off by make the best out of the NFL draft.  Drafting players to fill the holes in the defense would be a key move. Russell Wilson will have an outbreak season but the defense needs to put him in the right situations. Richard Sherman needs to step up his game, he hasn’t been performing to the level he once was, and Earl Thomas is nearing the end of his contract.  The Seahawks may only have one year left with Earl Thomas so they need to make the best of it. The club hasn’t had the same vibe since Beast mode Marshawn Lynch left the team, combining with injuries the team morale was not at it’s peak.  However the worst is now behind them, 2018 Is looking bright for the Seattle Seahawks. You can expect a Playoff Run next season out of Russell Wilson and the crew. Go Hawks! The 12th Man will also be playing a key factor so Hawks you know what to do.
