Why Amendola leaving won’t hurt as much as you think

It’s tough to hear that Danny Amendola has a new team.  It’s even harder to hear that it’s within your own division.  However, with limited cap space and other glaring needs, losing Danny Amendola will not be as bad as many think.

While he has been the definition of clutch in his tenure in New England, you cannot deny that he is more than replacable.  With Julian Edleman and Malcolm Mitchell both returning, along with having Brandin Cooks, Chris Hogan and the greatest tight end in history, overpaying an aging, injury probe receiver just doesn’t make sense.

The Patriots have needs and concerns in several other areas.  With just over 20 million dollars in current cap space, re-signing left tackle Nate Solder, adding depth at linebacker and replacing Malcolm Butler are far bigger needs.
